Busy tradesman and adventurous ute owners need tough gear that works for work during the week and recreation during the weekend.
Do you struggle with: stolen equipment, lack of storage, water damage and gear not lasting the distance?
The Load-Lid is a premium hard lid, that’s built for the toughest conditions so you can get stuff done, enjoy life’s adventures.
Check out this video to see it in action:
What does it mean "Get Stuff Done"? What does it mean to you?
From grind to glory - the adventure at the end of a hard week is the payoff you deserve.
Go on, you've earned it!
Whether you're using your ute for work or adventure, choosing the right hard cover isn't easy...
In this video, we'll help you decide whether the Load-Lid is right for your lifestyle.
This Load-Lid has a Dynamic load rating of 200kgs and a static load rating of 400kg.
The dynamic load rating refers to the amount of load you can safely carry when you need to stop quickly at open road speeds – like an accident.
Dynamic load ratings are calculated by subjecting the hard lid to a series of formulated tests that represent real life: twisting, pulling, pushing and anything in between!
Typically, a dynamic load rating will be a lot lower than a static rating, BUT it would have been tested at weights a lot higher than the static rating to pass the dynamic test.
The aluminium extrusion used for the Load-Lid frame features a built-in T-Track which you can mount a Tool Mount Kit to.
This provides safe storage for an axe, spade, fishing rod or other gear.
Hard-working tradies and adventurers require tough gear that works on and off the job site!
The Utemaster Load-Lid is built tough - out of a 1-piece aluminium treadplate sheet that has a base thickness of 3mm.
The construction is similar to an aircraft and incorporates up to 7 meters of internal bracing and heavy-duty hardware which is bonded with glue and then riveted together, meaning there are no shortcuts on strength.
Over the life of your ute, you’ll be getting tons of gear in and out of your tub!
That’s why it’s important to have a hard lid that provides easy access to gear.
To access the tub, the Load-Lid has a single twist handle on top. Simply insert the key and twist to release the locking mechanism, and then you can lift the Load-Lid straight up.
The Load-Lid has two gas stays positioned on either side of the lid, these are to help lift it up when there is no load on top.
The loss of tools or adventure gear due to theft is not only a massive inconvenience, it’s expensive too!
The Load-Lid has catches on both sides so that when the lid is locked, it’s really hard to pry open.
The tailgate locking plate also prevents your tailgate from being opened when the lid is shut. Some vehicles now come standard with a central locking tailgate, but if you forget to lock the ute, this locking plate can save your day. However, if you require you can remove it.
You can also purchase an optional central locking accessory, which allows you to lock and unlock your Load-Lid using your car key remote.
Roller shutters have a reputation for being hard to seal because of their intricate mechanics, but the Load-Lid has one solid aluminium shell - so it’s far easier to seal and keep your gear dry!
The Load-Lid has a full bulb seal which runs right around the top of the tub. This stops water from getting in and keeps everything dry!
On the sports bar Load-Lid there are also built-in rain channels, these redirect the water around your sports bar and over the edge of the tub.
At the front of the Load-Lid is a weather seal preventing water from running into your tub when the lid is opened. On some models such as the Next-Gen Ranger and Amarok, Utemaster also supply additional sealing kits to seal factory holes.
Some tub covers are generic - designed to work on multiple utes.
This is more of a convenience to the retailer than the person who’s going to own it. A generic fit can have water tightness issues and just look out of place on the vehicle.
Utemaster use 3D scanning to tailor each Load-Lid to each specific ute, so there’s a perfect fit every time!
The Utemaster Load-Lid comes in a tough Oasis Black powder coat, this is a lot more durable than paint because it’s baked on. The black finish matches the accents of the vehicle and finishes off the tough look.
If you're in the trades you'll understand that good quality tools are worth their weight in gold!
Quality gear means fewer breakdowns and more time getting the job done.
Investing in a quality ute setup is no different, the Utemaster Load-Lid has been tried, tested and thrashed by tradies in the toughest environments.
Whether you're using it to secure your tools or take a load on top, the Load-Lid will live up to your demands.

Ute’s are designed to take a beating, so your hard lid should too!
Roller shutters are prone to jamming their fragile mechanisms on sand and dust.
A Utemaster Load-Lid™ is built tough so you can take it everywhere you go without having to worry about whether it will take the beating!
The Load-Lid has been designed to easily be DIY installed, it comes with complete fitting instructions, fitting videos and is fully assembled right out of the box. If you require professional installation Utemaster can arrange this at the time of purchase at a convenient location near by you.

A standard Load-Lid™ weighs approximately 50-70kg.
The Load-Lid™ is supplied with gas stays which are at the optimum pressure for everyday use and are designed to help you open and close the lid.
However, they won't hold the lid open with a load on top. This is because it would require up to 200kg's of upwards pressure to open the lid with a load on it meaning that the operator would need to pull down with 200kg's of force to close the lid again which is not physically possible.
If you are carrying a Roof Top Tent and require access to the Tub, we recommend removing the locking plate on the Load-Lid™ handle so you can access the Tub through the tailgate (see below).
The Load-Lid™ comes standard with a locking plate under the handle which serves as an extra security measure. If required, you can remove it which will allow you to open the tailgate while the Load-Lid™ is closed. Depending on your lid model you may need to open the lid slightly to get the tailgate open.
If your Ute doesn't have a central locking tailgate we recommend that you install this to provide security without the plate.
The Utemaster Load-Lid™ has a dynamic load rating of 200kg, which means you can carry 200kg of gear when driving. The load rating requirement when driving is far greater than when the vehicle is parked.
When the vehicle is parked, the Load-Lid™ will support the weight of 2 people inside a Roof Top Tent.
Yes, the Load-Lid™ comes with a set of keys which allow you to lock the lid manually.
The Standard and Sports Bar Load-Lids are very easy to install and are be done without needing to drill into the tub. We recommend you check out the instructions listed further up this page so you can see how it works for your model.
If you are not confident in doing this yourself we can arrange fitting through one of our resellers.
If it is a spray-on liner you'll have no issues fitting the Load-Lid. If you have a plastic liner that goes over the top of the Tub you may need to cut it down so the lid sits correctly and does not leak.
You can put a load directly onto the aluminium treadplate surface.
Aluminium is very hard wearing and the Load-Lid™ comes standard coated in a teflon-based matte black powdercoat.
Some companies claim their roller covers or plastic lids have a load rating, but be aware that just because someone can stand on it while the vehicle is parked doesn’t mean it can carry a load.
If you can't fit your load on top, the Load-Lid™ can easily be removed by undoing the 4x wing bolts which hold it in place.
It can be done in a matter of minutes and all you'll need is a mate or two to help lift it off.
This gives you the space you'll need to carry objects such as a dirt bike in your tub. Please note removal process varies from model to model, however it is still super easy.
The Load-Lid™ sits above the edge of the Tub, so the height of the fridges you can fit is determined by the Tub depth. It is very common for customers to put fridges underneath the Load-Lid.
With the Load-Lid™ there are no intrusions below the top edge of your tub. The unique raised edge profile also adds a staunch appearance, improves rigidity and reduces water pooling. The easiest way to work out what will fit under the Load-Lid (for example a fridge) is to measure from the bottom of the tub to the top edge of the tub.
